Over the past few months we've been getting our property into shape for selling it, a decision that was very difficult for us to make. With M's medical problems and many surgeries in the past 2+ years, the long healing processes and his resulting limited mobility, we realized that we could no longer manage 14 acres of land, animals, garden and orchard and keep it looking good and how we used to have it and love it, and it was becoming frustrating knowing that we couldn't maintain it alone any longer, despite help from our family, neighbours and friends. We have no plans for moving on yet, but are waiting to see how long it takes to be sold and will then look at our options, which in a way is like a new adventure and quite exciting, but also sad of course, as we love our home! So . . . after much cleaning and tidying and throwing out and reorganizing we are now trying to keep the house and property tidy and clean for when the real estate agent needs to bring potential buyers to have a look at our little piece of paradise, and hopefully fall in love with it and buy it! We have rented a storage locker and almost all my craft supplies have been packed into boxes and taken there, along with other household items that we will be keeping, but MANY MANY bags of garbage have gone and many boxes of "unnecessary things" have been donated to the local charity shop. I can't believe how much "stuff" we've accumulated over the years, and how much of it was never used, so the purge was long overdue. In the meantime we continue to enjoy a wonderful summer of fresh goodies from the vegetable garden and orchard, watch and listen to the birds, and enjoy the wonderful country landscape all around us. We have been blessed to have been given the opportunity to live here in this very special place.
